As winter sets in down under, perhaps it’s time to book in a holiday.

Jetstar has announced it will resume direct flight services from Sydney and Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time in five years.

The new service is set to kick off this week, with four flights a week from Sydney and three from Melbourne.

Currently Vietnam Airlines is the only carrier offering non-stop flights from Australia to Vietnam.

Jetstar Group’s chief Jayne Hrdlicka said Vietnam was one of the fastest growing holiday destinations for Australians, and that it had the potential to become as popular as Bali or Thailand.
