A Vietnamese woman charged with the hit and run of a 13-year-old girl in Melbourne’s north has appeared in court for the first time.

41-year-old Thi Nguyen from Sunshine North is accused of hitting the girl who was riding her bicycle on a Coburg Street.

The crash left the girl in a critical condition with head injuries and broken bones.

Nguyen turned herself in five days after the crime and remains on bail.

She will face the court again in March next year.
