MORROW — Ethan Pham has become the first Vietnamese-American judge in Morrow, a city with Georgia’s largest Vietnamese population.

35-year-old Ethan Pham was sworn in on Tuesday after he was appointed unanimously to serve as associate municipal judge by Morrow City Council at its July 24 meeting.

Pham was born in South Vietnam. His father and both grandfathers fought for the South Vietnamese military in the Vietnam War.

After the fall of Saigon, Pham’s father was imprisoned in a North Vietnamese re-education camp for several years. Once his father was released, Pham’s family applied to emigrate to the United States.

In 1994, at the age of 11, Pham along with his family moved to Minnesota before relocating to Rome, Gorgia.

According to Pham’s campaign website, he bought his parents a small chicken farm after the market crashed in 2009 and helped them run it.

Pham is a former software developer and graduated from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta.

He came in third in this year’s US House District 7 Democratic primary election.
