Vic Police appeal for public help following West Footscray death

Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for public information following the death of a man in West Footscray earlier this month.

A 24-year-old Epping man was located injured on Ashley Street just before 7pm on Saturday, 5 August.

A number of passers-by stopped to assist and emergency services attended, however the man died at the scene.

A 35-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with one count of murder in relation to the incident.

The investigation into the death remains ongoing and Homicide Squad detectives believe there are likely to be a number of people out there who saw the man in the lead up to his death.

Victoria police say they are particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed a man have an altercation with a man and a woman at Tottenham Railway Station or the nearby area from about 6.40pm.

A number of vehicles are also likely to have driven along Ashley Street near the overpass around the time of the man’s death.

Police are appealing for anyone who believes they were driving that stretch of road between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on the night and noticed any unusual activity to come forward.

Police say any information, no matter how irrelevant it may seem, may prove crucial for investigators.
