The Buddhist Church of Australia and the United States’ charity group have travelled to central Vietnam over the weekend to support victims affected by the recent floods.

On Saturday, the teams arrived in Vietnam’s central provinces of Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Bình and Quảng Trị to deliver goods to about 1,100 families in distress.

The dispatch of gifts worth over $35,000 was the first of two stages.

Another trip to help disaster victims is expected to be made next year, in January.

Since mid-October, natural disasters and floods have repeatedly devastated the provinces of central Vietnam, leaving more than 30 people dead and tens of thousands of people displaced.
