The Zika virus continues to spread in Ho Chi Minh City, with the infection number now rising to 62.
According to Vietnamese news agency VnExpress, 27 new zika infections in the city have been confirmed over the past week alone.
While the United Nations has declared that Zika is no longer an international emergency, Ho Chi Minh City is still struggling to keep the mosquito borne virus contained.
The city declared Zika a pandemic last month after it spread rapidly to 17 of the city’s 24 districts.
Nine pregnant women have now also been infected with Zika in the city.
Ho Chi Minh City’s health department now has task forces responsible for detecting new cases, spraying insecticide and calling on residents to rid their homes of standing water where mosquitoes can breed.
