Vietnam’s cybersecurity has been ranked 101 out of 195 countries in the 2017 Global Security Index, compiled by the UN’s Telecommunication Union.

Meanwhile, the country’s regional peers — Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand are among the top 20 for cybersecurity.

The score was based on a country’s legal, technical and organisational institutions, its educational and research capabilities, and its cooperation in information-sharing networks.

More than half of Vietnam’s population of nearly 92 million have access to the internet.

Last August, Vietnam was the victim of cyber attacks on its two main airports.

The Vietnamese government has vowed to fight against any form of cyber-attacks on organisations or individuals.
