45 percent of Vietnamese gamers play across all platforms – from the PC to mobile and console. (Photo: Reuters) Data from an international games site has revealed that over a third of Vietnam’s population play online games.
The Amsterdam-based company Newzoo estimates that 32.8 million people will be playing online games in Vietnam this year, making the country the 28th biggest market in the world.
The commpany’s survey found that 45 per cent of Vietnamese gamers play across all platforms – from the PC to mobile and console.
Players range from the ages of 10 to 50 years of age, with most sitting between 21 and 35.
Women make up 43 percent of people who play games on a PC or laptop more than once a month.
With more than half of Vietnam’s total population already accessing the internet, the number of online games is only set to increase.
A report earlier this month found that Facebook users in the country jumped by 40 percent from last year, making Vietnam the seventh most active country on the network.
