Ethnic model wins top prize at Miss Universe Vietnam

A 25-year-old model from the ethnic minority of Ede in Vietnam’s central Dak Lak province has won the title of Miss Universe Vietnam 2018.

H’ Hen Nie defeated 41 other contestants at the Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 beauty pageant’s final in central Khanh Hoa province on Saturday.

The 1.72 metre-tall beauty queen was rewarded with a cash prize of 200 million Vietnamese dong (some $A11,200), a crown worth 2.7 billion Vietnamese dong ($A151,200), and the right to represent Vietnam to attend Miss Universe 2018.

She succeeds Nguyen Thi Loan as the new Miss Universe Vietnam.

The first runner-up went to 25-year-old model Hoang Thuy from central Thanh Hoa province while 25-year-old model Mau Thi Thanh Thuy from Ho Chi Minh City was adjudged as the second runner up.
