MELBOURNE – Local comedian and actor Diana Nguyen is on a mission to immortalise the Vietnamese family experience on film.
Diana is currently in the works to produce a webseries called Phi and Me, based off her YouTube skits and live comedy shows of the same name.
Diana told TiVi Tuan-san that recent shows like Fresh Off the Boat and the Family Law had made bold steps to represent Chinese immigrant communities but audiences have yet to see the dynamics of a Vietnamese family make the small screen.
To raise funds for her web series, Diana is staging a performance night with a lineup of special guests including Hung Le, Candy Bowers, Gabe Hogan and many more.
The night will take place on Wednesday June 7 at the Bella Union in Carlton. Funds from the night will also be directed into a Phi & Me show at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in August this year.
You can find all the details about the shows and the link to Phi & Me’s Pozible Crowdfunding page here.
There’s also a special pre-sale promotion for $20 tickets. Simple use the code “CHEAPASCHIPS” for the discount when purchasing the tickets online at https://www.bellaunion.com.au/event/1179/.
