Hong-Anh Live in Concert will be held at the Melbourne Recital Centre on March 12, 2016.
After holding a successful concert for the Vietnamese community in Orange County, California, USA in 2014, Mr Hong-Anh Nguyen will stage another concert for the Vietnamese and broader community on March 12th at the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre.

Hong-Anh is a Vietnamese singer, songwriter and editor. With a full music band comprising of well-known Vietnamese musicians and singers, Hong-Anh will perform a show live to thank readers for supporting his TiVi Tuan-san newspaper over the last 30 years.

The theme of this concert is: Nostalgia, human plight and love songs of a former refugee on his journey to freedom through music.

This event opens the door to cultural awareness and brings understanding between the Vietnamese and the mainstream community.

Some songs which were originally written in English more than 30 years ago and then translated into Vietnamese recently will be performed bilingual, by Vietnamese singers and the composer. (The MC will be speaking in Vietnamese and English.)

Hong-Anh has performed in Australia live in the past; the Adelaide Festival in 1981 and in Melbourne on many occasions in the early 1980’s – such as the Moomba Festival, Multicultural Festival and at primary and high school multicultural events.

He started running his newspaper in 1985 and ceased all his music activities around the same time. It is only recently, that he has enjoyed writing and playing music again.

In the last two years, he has released four CDs and one songbook.

Hong-Anh Nguyen Live in Concert coincides with Cultural Diversity Week.

The concert will be at Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre on Saturday 12 March 2016 at 7pm. The event is free but tickets are required.
