Ho Chi Minh City has issued a code of conduct for tourists, calling on visitors to respect local customs and culture, and not to damage historical relics.

The guidelines are printed on a series of flashcards available from Tan Son Nhat airport and five star hotels.

The cards are translated into languages including English, Chinese, Korean, Russian and Vietnamese.

Among the other do’s and don’ts for tourists, are notes against consuming, buying or selling illegal substances.

Broader guides include respecting the elderly, disabled, children and women.

The tourism board said the guide was timely considering Vietnam’s target of 5 point 6 foreign visitors for 2017.
