Vietnam’s major cities have flunked a global quality of life ranking.

Both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are at the lower end of the Mercer Quality of Living grade.

Out of 231 cities, the London-based human resources consultancy ranked Ho Chi Minh at number 152, while Hanoi was slightly lower at 156th place.

The rankings measure the cities based on political, social, economic and environmental indicators and also takes into account a city’s schools, housing, and public services.

Singapore retained its title as the most livable city in Asia, ranked number 25 globally, while European cities dominated the list with Vienna in top place overall.
