Construction for Vietnam’s biggest gas reserve could being as early as November, according to Vietnamese state television.

The Blue Whale Gas project is run by the US company Exxon Mobil in cooperation with the state-run Petro Vietnam corporation and will encompass 150 billion cubic metres of reserves.

The state TV report stated that Exxon Mobil aimed to produce the first gas for Vietnamese power plants in 2023.

The gas plant reflects Vietnam’s efforts to switch from coal-fired power plants to cleaner energy.
