Sole survivor of Vietnam plane crash retells her story in new memoir

The sole survivor of a plane crash in Vietnam which killed 29 people in 1992, has recounted her story of survival in a memoir titled Turbulance.

Dutch native Annette Herfkens was travelling with her fiancé on board Vietnam Airlines Flight 474 with 22 other passengers and six crew members.

The flight, en route from Vietnam’s southern city of Ho Chi Minh City to the coastal resort of Nha Trang, crashed into a mountain on November 14, 1992,

The former Wall Street trader, then 31-year-old, survived alone for a week before being rescued by local police.

In an interview with the New York Post, Herfkens, now 55, retells her story of physical and psychological endurance.
