US President Donald Trump will host Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the White House in Washington next Wednesday.

A White House statement said both countries would discuss bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

The meeting comes several months after President Trump withdrew the US from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a regional trade deal that would have included Vietnam.
