The whereabouts of 12 Indonesians who disappeared off Indonesia’s East Java province after a Vietnamese freighter and an Indonesian sailboat collided on Saturday, remains unknown.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport has urged for the search of the missing 12 to continue, local news agency Tuoi Tre reported on Tuesday.
The Vietnamese general cargo ship, Tay Son 4, and Indonesia’s KM Mulya Sejati, which was carrying 27 people, collided before dawn on Saturday off the Tuban district in East Java, said the head of the local Disaster Mitigation Agency, Joko Loediyone, cited by the Associated Press.
Twelve fishermen were immediately rescued while three others died after the collision.
The Vietnamese freighter ship was said to have been loaded with tapioca flour and was departing from Bangkok Port en route to the Port of Surabaya.
