A half-Vietnamese and Norwegian model has been crowned Miss Universe Norway.

Kaja Caroline Koja, 20, defeated 14 other contestants to claim the title at the Grand finale in the Norwegian capital of Oslo on Saturday, July 29.

The 10-month long competition required contestants to collect points through various activities including reaching out to the press, being involved with charities, making ties with businesses and actively promoting themselves on social media.

Throughout the competition, Kaja had been a popular contestant – ranking first based on pre-votes from SMS, second according to the votes by sponsors and partners, and sixth based on her other activities.

The beauty queen from Kongsvinger, a small town in Norway, was born to a Norwegian mother and Vietnamese father.

She will now prepare to represent Norway at this year’s 66th Miss Universe pageant in the United States.
