A Vietnamese woman working in Angola has been burned to death by robbers, who broke into a hostel where she was staying.
According to the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola, the Vietnamese woman named Hoang Thi Van, another Vietnamese national named Nguyen Van Vinh, and one Angolan were living in the hostel.
The robbers failed to extort money from the group, and instead bound the three together before setting them on fire.
They were taken to hospital by Vietnamese neighbours.
Tuoi Tre news reports that Van died a day later and her Angolan friend died three days later.
Vinh remains in critical condition.
Vietnamese-Angolan relations started officially in 1975, with Vietnam sending technical experts in agriculture, health and education to the country in the mid 80s.
Recently, Vietnamese migration to Angola has boomed, with mostly rural Vietnamese coming to work as labourers in Angola’s high-paying construction sector.
