Police in Queensland are continuing their investigation at Dreamworld’s theme park, where four adults died after being trapped under an upturned raft.

Two men and two women, who all lived in Australia, died when the Thunder River Rapids Ride overturned earlier this week.

Two children who managed to escape the disaster have been treated for injuries in hospital.

The ride, meant to simulate going over river rapids, uses round floating devices that seat six and can reach speeds of 45 kilometres-per-hour. It is described by Dreamworld as a “moderate thrill” attraction for those older than two.

Meanwhile, Dreamworld is defending its safety record in light of documents that show previous allegations of safety breaches.

The owner of the park, Ardent Leisure Group, said the ride had completed its annual mechanical and structural safety engineering inspection on September 29.

The park is scheduled to reopen on Friday, with all the proceeds to be donated to the Australian Red Cross.
