Richmond’s Tết festival a success despite extreme heatwave

The 2018 Lunar New Year festival (also known in Vietnamese as Tết) was held along Victoria Street in Richmond on Sunday, January 28. The weather reached a high of 39 degrees but cooled down by the evening, gradually seeing thousands of visitors participate in the event.

The festival which began at 10am saw a variety of highlights including Vietnamese-Australian City of Yarra Mayor Daniel Nguyen giving a speech in Vietnamese, a young Australian man singing a song in Vietnamese and one of the hottest U.S-based singers – Nhu Loan taking the audience by storm.
