Body of missing Briton Aiden Webb found in Vietnam’s north

Rescue teams have found the body of British backpacker Aiden Webb in Lao Cai province, northern Vietnam.

The 22-year-old Cambridge student from Norwich was last seen on Friday when he set off to climb Vietnam’s highest mountain – Fanispan Mountain – near Sa Pa district.

Major Hoang Ngoc Sang confirmed to reporters on Thursday morning that Mr Webb had died. He said the British tourist was found in Sin Chai village around 12:45am local time and added that rescuers were working together to repatriate the body.

Earlier, drones had been used in the search for the missing backpacker.

According to a preliminary assessment cited by local media, Mr Webb died about 2-3 days ago.
