The Fortitude Valley restaurant first opened in March with the business name Uncle Ho, referring to the communist North Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh.
In April, about 100 members of Brisbane’s Vietnamese community gathered outside the establishment to protest against the restaurant’s name, which was seen as offensive.
At that time, the owners claimed they received “death threats’’ and threats to burn the eatery down.
The restaurant had changed its name twice since the protest, to Uncle Bia Hoi and then later to Aunty Oh’s Bia Hoi.
The Courier Mail reports that Bespoke Hospitality Group, which owned the restaurant, went into voluntary administration late on Friday, appointing Brendan Nixon of Stanley Morgan Solvency Accountants.
Administrator Mr Nixon was cited as saying the restaurant had already ceased trading prior to his appointment.
