American rocker Meat Loaf has collapsed on stage while performing a concert in Canada.
The 68-year-old was in the middle of singing his hit, I’d Do Anything For Love, when he collapsed at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta.
The Daily Mail UK reports the Texas-born singer has been rushed to hospital where he remains in an unknown condition.
Earlier this week, the rock singer had postponed a show in the city of Calgary due to illness, media reported and social media posts showed.
Meat Loaf, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, has passed out on the stage before. In 2011, medics rushed to his aid during a concert in Pittsburgh but he got up and finished the show.
In 2003, he collapsed at Wembley Arena in London and was admitted to hospital.
During an Australian tour in 2011, Meat Loaf told Fairfax Media his fans shouldn’t panic if he collapses on stage, as cited by news.com.au.
He said he had been carrying around an oxygen mask onstage since 1967 because of his asthma.
“I would venture to say one out of every two nights I use [asthma spray]. It’s like I’ll get some sort of asthma attack at every show, so it’s not that big of a deal,” he told Fairfax Media.
