NAGOYA – A Vietnamese man has been detained on suspicion of killing a work colleague near their apartment in the town of Nagoya, central Japan, state media reports.

Nguyen Van Duc is suspected of stabbing Duong Van Chien, his Vietnamese roommate, in the neck with a knife on the grounds of the apartment on Saturday night, according to local police.

The 21-year-old suspect has admitted to the allegations, Japanese news website Tokyo Reporter cited police as saying.

Both Nguyen and Duong had attended a group dinner prior to the incidence, it said.

A man who drove the two home after the dinner called police around 10.30pm local time on Saturday after finding the victim bleeding from the neck.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene to transport Duong to a nearby hospital where he was later confirmed dead due to loss of blood.
