A Vietnamese man in the U.S south-eastern state of Virginia has been charged with murder after police say he shot and killed his daughter and her husband.

Hiep Van Le, 67, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Fairfax County police say an argument began between Le and his son-in-law, 45-year-old Dang Ngo at a home in Annandale around 1.30pm local time on Wednesday.

They say the situation escalated when Le’s daughter, 40-year-old Sophia Le, became involved.

Le supposedly pulled out a gun and fired shots at both family members.

Upon arrival, police say Ngo was found dead outside the home. Sophia Le was found injured inside the home and was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, but later died from her injuries.

Three children were also in the home the time, but police have confirmed they were not injured.

Both Le and the victims lived at the home.
