Prominent Australian socialite, Lady Susan Renouf, has died from ovarian cancer on her 74th birthday, according to media reports.
This morning her daughter, Ann Peacock, shared a photograph of herself and her two sisters as children with their mother on Instagram.
The photo was accompanied with the captions that read: “Happy Birthday Mummy, we love you sooooo much, rest now in peace.”
Veteran entertainment commentator Peter Ford has praised Lady Renouf on 3AW radio for her fighting spirit.
“She was a spirited woman, she was very brave, particularly in the last six weeks, she put up an extraordinary fight,” he said.
Lady Renouf, who became known for her love of fashion, hats and immaculate grooming, had a string of high-profile marriages throughout her life.
Her first marriage to federal minister Andrew Peacock in 1963 gained national attention as they became a power couple with a combination of style and political influence.
After their relationship ended in divorce in 1977, Lady Renouf married British racing and gambling millionaire Robert Sangster, then New Zealand businessman Sir Frank Renouf in 1985.
Lady Renouf is survived by three daughters, Jane, Ann and Caroline.
