Four popular actors from one of India’s most successful drama shows are expected to travel to Vietnam next month to meet their Vietnamese fans.
In Vietnam, the drama “Balika Vadhu” has enjoyed immense popularity since it first began airing in November, 2014. Under the title “Cô Dâu 8 Tuổi” the drama focuses on the gruelling journey of a child bride from the brink of childhood to womanhood.
According to state media, the Indian stars – Roop Durgapal, Siddharth Shukla, Avinash Mukherjee and Aasiya Kazi – will stay one week in Vietnam from July 13 to July 19 to meet media organisations, interact with audiences and join in several activities.
This will be the second trip for actors Siddharth Shukla and Avinash Mukerjee who visited Vietnam in January and received an overwhelming support from their fans.
The popularity of “Balika Vadhu” is part of a wider appeal for Asian dramas in Vietnam, which experts say have a cultural edge over their Western counterparts due to cultural similarities that are found in soap operas imported from South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia.
