Federal Labor Leader Bill Shorten has come to the aid of a woman and her child after a car accident in the New South Wales Hunter Valley.
The opposition leader had been heading towards a campaign event in Maitland when his campaign convoy was overtaken by another at Cessnock Road at Testers Hollow.
The passing vehicle was then involved in a head-on collision with a third car coming from the opposite direction.
A woman and child involved in the accident are using Mr Shorten’s parked car to recover, the ABC reports.
According to the Maitland Mercury, a woman in her mid-20s sustained minor facial injuries and pain in the knee. She has been taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
NSW Ambulance said two other people were injured but will not be taken to hospital.
Mr Shorten has cancelled his planned street walk.
