Nguyễn Hồng-Anh is a Vietnamese-Australian songwriter, journalist, and community advocate based in Melbourne, Australia. Arriving in Australia as a refugee after the fall of Saigon in 1975, he has spent decades using music and media to preserve the stories, memories, and aspirations of the Vietnamese refugees.
As the editor-in-chief and publisher of TiVi Tuần-san, he has contributed extensively to Vietnamese-language journalism in Australia, while also composing songs that reflect themes of freedom, exile, identity, homeland lost and homeland found, and hope. His music blends personal experience with historical memory, giving voice to generations of refugees and migrants.
In recent years, Nguyễn Hồng-Anh has increasingly performed and written songs in English, bringing the Vietnamese refugee journey to wider international audiences. Journey to Freedom is one such performance — a heartfelt musical reflection on resilience, survival, and the enduring value of freedom.
