Vietnamese authorities say a British man has been found dead early Sunday morning at his home in Hoi An Town, Quang Nam Province.

It’s believed Nicholas Robert Shirra, 51, hanged himself at the house in Tam Thanh Dong Hamlet, Cam Thanh Commune at around 1:05 am on Sunday.

Colonel Nguyen Duc Dung of Quang Nam Province told the media on Sunday, Shirra’s family called local police after they discovered his body.

Colonel Dung said the deceased and his Vietnamese wife had lived in Cam Thanh commune – more than 10 kilometres from Hoi An downtown- since 2010. They have children.

The provincial police is “working with the local foreign affairs department and government… to investigate and determine the cause and manner of death,” he said.
