Police in Cambodia say they have arrested a Vietnamese national suspected of drug trafficking during a raid on his home in Prey Veng province’s Preah Sdach district on Monday.

According to local media, the commander of the provincial Military Police, Brigadier General Men Sibuon, said 37-year-old Nguyen Young Ting was a suspected drug ringleader and frequent gambler at Bavet town on the Cambodia-Vietnam border.

“He is a suspected drug ringleader hiding in Prey Veng province. Police have spent a long time investigating him before we could arrest him today,” he was quoted as saying by Khmer Times.

“He was arrested after Military Police raided his rental house in Chey Commune.”

During the raid, police reportedly seized four packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing roughly 30 grams, along with other drug related material.

Brig. Gen. Sibuon said Nguyen has been detained at the provincial military headquarters and will be sent to the provincial court today.
