Roger Rogerson and Glen McNamara have been found guilty of murdering Sydney student Jamie Gao during a drug deal.
The former NSW police detectives had been accused of shooting 20-year-old Gao dead at a Padstow storage facility in Sydney’s southwest on May 20, 2014, and dumping his body in waters off Cronulla the next day.
The jury also found Rogerson, 75, and co-accused McNamara, 57, guilty of stealing 2.78 kilograms of the drug ice from Mr Gao after they killed him.
The trial spanned over almost four months at the NSW Supreme Court, during which both Rogerson and McNamara pleaded not guilty to murder.
Instead, the two men pointed the finger at each other over the shooting death of the young man.
It took the jury six-and-a-half days to consider their verdict.
Justice Geoffrey Bellew thanked the jurors for serving a long and complicated trial. He also excused them from ever serving again due to the length of the trial.
A sentence hearing will take place on August 25.
