A railway bridge in Vietnam’s southern Dong Nai province
was hit by a passing barge on Sunday afternoon, sending its middle span and
several people into the river.

The collision happened when a sand carrying-barge
crashed into the Ghenh bridge pillars, making commuters fall and turning the
barge upside down.

Police are yet to identify if there are still people
inside.

Local residents have rescued three motorbike riders,
according to local online newspaper Tien Phong.

At least four rescue motorboats were dispatched to the
scene to search for any remaining victim.

The 223-metre Ghenh bridge was built by the French more
than 100 years ago and is being used for both railway and land transportation.
